In years past, lip augmentation meant one of two things: either you were going to spend the rest of your days making routine trips to the plastic surgeon for lip injections or you were going to suffer from fake and obvious results from the subpar implants available at the time. While injections were effective, their results were temporary. Lip implants weren’t any better. In fact, many of the best surgeons were dissatisfied with the implants available because they caused scar tissue to develop and couldn’t easily be removed. Lip augmentation used to mean temporary or lackluster results, but not any more thanks to PermaLip.
What is lip augmentation?
What sets PermaLip apart?
PermaLip is a FDA-approved, high quality soft and solid implant made of silicone elastomer. PermaLip implants are created with injection molds to create a smooth, non-porous surface that will naturally contour to the shape of your lips. Many size options are available to provide patients with the best and most natural results. Should a patient ever wish to have the implant removed, the solid construction of the implant makes it completely removable, allowing the procedure to be reversed if desired.
Am I a good candidate for PermaLip?
If you would like a more permanent plump and fuller lip without the hassle and expense of repeated lip injections, PermaLip may be right for you. Ideal candidates are healthy nonsmokers with clear expectations for the procedure. During your consultation, Dr. Miles will address your concerns and discuss your options for the procedure to achieve the desired results.
What can I expect during the procedure?
The brief procedure is performed under local anesthesia and typically takes less than an hour. Small incisions are made at the corners of lips, discretely hidden inside the mouth. The desired size of implant is inserted into the area and the incisions are closed.
What is the recovery process like?
Some minor swelling is expected and typically lasts for one week. Patients should expect a small adjustment period while the body adjusts, but the implant will quickly feel normal. After recovery, patients are able to speak, eat, and kiss, just as they did before undergoing surgery.
